My Education performed over the weekend (May 1 to be exact, on the Beltane) at the 4th installment of the Austin Psych Fest, put on by the folks in The Black Angels.  My Education closed the whole shebang, but this time, like during their SXSW official showcase, the band collaborated with Sal Lake City-based psychsters Theta Naught with their Sound Mass project. Something which began somewhat on a lark when My Education hit SLC while on tour in 2010 has proved to be a winning combination and has taken a life of its own.  Writer Greg Ackerman hailed the performance as the most unique and interesting of all the shows throughout the festival - which is saying a whole heap o’lot given the pedigree of lysergic acts who played.  An excerpt: “After catching My Education a few times in the past few months, we are increasingly more impressed by their demonstrated diversity. From soft, intricate songs like Sunrise to the driving, maniacal tunes from Sound Mass at Psych Fest, the band is flexing their musical muscles in all the right places.”  We couldn’t agree more.My Education
